De-detoxify your mind and body
Written by Jeffrey Morrison, MD Cleanse Your Body, Clear Your Mind is the latest book to make it to our must-read list. Dr. Morrison practices environmental medicine in New York City (check-out this video to learn more), and does a fantastic job at explaining how our environment can wreck awoke on our body and mind. Better yet he offers up a way for us to do something about it and it doesn’t involve pricey green juice fasts.
We’re surrounded by toxicity and, as Morrison points out, there’s nothing we can do about it. Toxins end up stored in our fat cells and in the fluid around our fat cells causing all kinds of things from achy muscles and joints to heart disease, diabetes, digestive problems, and fatigue. To combat these common ailments (seriously…who doesn’t have digestive problems and fatigue these days? Sigh…), Morrison first helps us identify toxins and their symptoms (this includes investigating our diet), he then explains the effects of these toxins on our health, before offering up solutions including a meal plan. It’s a 30-day detox plan, but odds are in a few days you’ll find yourself feeling more refreshed, have clearer skin, and more energy - oh the perks of a clean diet!
We also loved that the book outlines questions we could ask our doctor along with additional testing options and supplements. This isn’t a book you necessarily have to read cover to cover and a lot of it is common knowledge for anyone who takes an active interest in health and nutrition, but there is still a tremendous amount to learn.
There’s so much in life that we can’t control - try as we may! - it’s truly fascinating how much control we actually DO have over our health.
