The fashion, the jewelry, the culture…the chai….there are countless reasons we’d love to visit India and now we can enjoy a little bit of the exotic land Stateside thanks to The Chai Cart’s concentrate. The only unsweetened chai concentrate on the market, the brand’s blends are the brainchild of Paawan Kothari and about as close as you can get to what you would find were you to make the trek overseas.

Kothari immigrated to the U.S. in 1994 and for years struggled to find authentic chai. When street food began its boom in 2009 the entrepreneur used a bicycle trailer to set up an informal “chai cart” with the hopes of sharing her real homemade chai on weekends. It didn’t take long for the delicious brew to take off and, so, The Chai Cart was born (and so long went Kothari’s corporate job!).

All of the brand’s products are handcrafted in small batches without the use of extracts, added flavors, or preservatives. It’s little surprise given the quality of the Assam teas and spices that are used for each batch that the refreshing teas hit the spot when we’re looking to satisfy a nagging craving. Check-out the cart in if you’re in San Fran or head to Whole Foods to pick-up one of The Chai Cart’s concentrate and…drink up!
