A Tribute to Andy Warhol by Dom PerignonTuesday, August 10, 2010 6:00 AM
Limited edition treat for celebrating marriage milestones
Art and bubbly – what a delectable combination! And soon we can indulge in both (or as we like to see it “invest”).
The Design Laboratory at London’s famed Saint Martin’s School of Art and Design school (where Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, and many others studied), was commissioned by Dom Perignon to design three limited edition bottles, each of which pay tribute to Andy Warhol.
Warhol was a big Dom Perignon fan and he once recounted, in his diary, a night where he and members of a private club picked up 2,000 bottles of Dom with the intention of putting them in a sealed room until the year 2000. To this day no one knows where those bottles are. So mysterious….luckily finding the newbie Dom bottles won’t be nearly as challenging.
The collection of three A Tribute to Andy Warhol by Dom Perignon bottles – each with a distinct label in red, blue, or yellow – were inspired by the artist’s unconventional representation of icons and the playful use of codes and color in his work. The collection will be available worldwide starting on October 15th for $150 each. We hope that our hubby agrees that we need all three – a bargain after all when compared to an Andy original.
