Starter cell phone for kids

fireflyOur moms didn’t have phones at the ready when they were out and about—just in case you were keeled over at the nurse’s office with a nasty stomach ache. But we do, heaven forbid our little ones aren’t feeling well, have left something home that he needs at school that minute or our girlfriends need to talk and leaving a message at home won’t do. Okay, so we understand our need for a cell phone but at what point do we give in to our kids’ needs (read: desires) to have one too?

At no point does a kid need one (although at some point the argument that kids socialize via texting these days is one to consider). Although if you’re going to do it, why not start off with one that lets you maintain some control? Kids are cool with Firefly Mobile phones because they come with lots of bells and whistles like texting, music, games, customized wallpaper and ringtones, and more, while parents are keen on them because they are pay as you play (no huge monthly investment), they can limit ingoing and outgoing calls as well as the phone numbers to be dialed (pre-programmed buttons) and received, plus monitor the usage and restrict texting.

Plus, this compromise will make you look like the coolest mom ever since they were in the Oscar goodie bags last night and sure to be all the rage with the Celeb offspring set soon!
