Health and beauty benefits of high-fiber diet
After watching a rather graphic episode of Dr. Oz regarding constipation – which we’ll spare you the details on – we searched our supermarket aisles for viable sources of fiber. Fiber is, according to Dr. Oz, one of the best ways to relieve oneself. Unfortunately most of the healthy high-fiber options are rather skimpy when it comes to taste. But we love Kashi’s GoLean line of cereals.
The cereal comes in a variety of new iterations, but our fave is the original which tastes surprisingly sweet thanks to honey puffs (despite having just 6g of sugar). To boot the cereal has only 140 calories which, believe it or not, is about a third less than bland ‘ol Cheerios. The piece de résistance however is that it has 13g of protein (20% of daily suggested amount), and 10g of fiber (40% of daily suggested amount).
No bathroom back-ups, help in controlling weight (fiber helps to trigger and sustain the feeling of fullness), improved cardiovascular health (fiber can help reduce cholesterol levels), and help in controlling blood sugar—if that’s not convincing enough to lay off the kid’s sugar laden, no nutrition cereals than there’s really no hope for you!
Dish with us: Do you monitor the amount of fiber you consume or is this news to you?
