Healthy Pasta Recipe Right This Way

Tofu…yum (really)

We’re total foodies and we certainly are not girls afraid to EAT, which is why we’re constantly looking for guilt free indulgences to balance out our more….sinful cravings. Now, thanks to House Foods, we have a new favorite with their Tofu Shirataki Noodles, which contain only 10 calories and 3 g of carbs per 4 oz serving (compared to approximately 400 calories in 4 ounces of regular noodles or pasta). Given that it’s almost Thanksgiving we’re going to go easy and whip up a good dinner using this Tofu Pesto Fettuccine recipe. The easy to make dish combines House Foods Tofu Shirataki Fettuccine Shaped Noodles with pesto and sun dried tomatoes for a deliciously healthy meal. Check it out below and let us know what you think!

Pesto Fettuccine, Created by House Foods

Winter Hair Woes

Your Survival Guide

Harsh winter weather can be hair’s worst enemy (and we thought summer frizz was bad..). From hat hair to static to dry ends, dropping temperatures signal seemingly endless hair woes. Ski slope sun exposure, drying indoor heat and high winds all present challenges, often resulting in brittle, tangled strands.

“Just as your skin can look dull and dry during the low humidity months, so can your scalp and hair,” says Rebecca Kazin, MD, FAAD. “Then add in our typical daily heating and styling tools which further stress and dehydrate the hair.”

As a top dermatologist at the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery and the Johns Hopkins Department of Dermatology, Dr. Kazin has seen her share of hair/scalp complaints. Here she shares her tried and tested favorites to help your readers survive winter with shiny, healthy hair!

  • Protect – If you must use heated styling tools, it’s essential to use a good heat protectant spray. I like Aquage Beyond Body Thermal Spray because it has ceramic-infused polymers and fortifying proteins to seal hair’s outer layer.
  • Nourish – To maintain healthy hair, you must add more moisture during the winter months. Apply Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Crème post-shower to calm frizz and satisfy and restore even the thirstiest hair to softness.
  • Shine - Our hair [...]

Surprise Ride

The new subscription service you need to know about

Like most moms we’re always looking for ways to distract the kids while we’re busy getting household duties and about a million other things in order. We try our best to avoid anything involving iPhones, video games, and television sets but it’s not always easy to keep the kids entertained without involving gadgets.
We have found an alternative however and we’re excited to share it with you! Called Surprise Ride it’s a subscription service that sends kids a box of activities every month. The brand designs themed experiences as studies have shown that presenting information as a case study increases learning retention through engagement…and yes the kids have become engaged even asking for specific delivery times of the new boxes!
The company was founded by two sisters out of Harvard Business School with extensive experience in the digital space. Both experienced economic hardship growing up and were encouraged to use their imaginations by their father; this root further took hold when they left Wall Street to fuel their creative sides. They [...]
